Work to Residence

The Work to Residence visas are provided for the grant of resident visas to people who have demonstrated they have skills to fill specified high-skilled or hard-to-fill and high national importance roles in New Zealand.

New Zealand residency visa

Green List – Work to Residence 

Work to Residence is the pathway open to those on Tier 2 of the Green List. These occupations include health services (Podiatrists), Teachers, and trades such as electricians and plumbers.

Applicants must be 55 and under, meet health and character requirements, and meet Skilled Migrant level English language requirements. Most importantly, their employer must be accredited, and they must have worked in New Zealand in their profession for 24 months.

Care Workforce – Work to Residence

The Care Workforce – Work to Residence is a pathway open to those who have worked in New Zealand for at least 24 months in a Care Workforce sector. Applicants must hold current employment or offer of employment in the Care Workforce. They must be earning at or above $28.25 per hour and work at least 30 hours per week. Most importantly their employer must be accredited.

Transport Sector – Work to Residence 

The Transport Sector – Work to Residence is a pathway open to those working in the roles of Ship’s Master or Deckhand in the transport industry. Applicants must be 55 and under, meet health and character requirements, and meet Minimum level English language requirements. Meet acceptable employment standards and have worked in the stated role for at least 24 months. 

Talent – Arts, Sports, Culture

If you have  a record of excellence in the fields of Arts, Sports or Culture – the Talent – Work to Residence Visa may meet your needs. For this visa you must show that you are internationally recognised in this field and you are sponsored by an acceptable organisation.

This visa will allow you to stay in New Zealand for 2.5 years and after 2 years you can apply for a Residence Visa.

Religious Worker – Work to Residence Visa

If you hold a religious office and are sponsored by an acceptable religious organisation, you may be able to apply for a Religious Worker Work Visa.

This visa will allow for you to stay in New Zealand for two years. After two years you may be able to apply for a Residence Visa. Strict sponsorship and English Language rules apply. Please contact Idesi Legal for assitance.
